Default I got reved at today

Poor little 4.7 dodge. This kid has a black dodge ram 1500 rcsb 2wd and he painted the same stripes on it as mine. He has at least a K@N cold air and duels, I hope thats all. He pulls up to me at a red light so I look over and he's pulling it out of gear to give me the pipes. I laughed. I put the old 4.8 in 4-wheel auto and when the light turned green the rears cherped auto 4-wheel grabed and I waved bye-bye. My truck only has a tune with no muffler. I pulled 2 lengths by the 1-2 shift and I let off. Then the dreaded fly-by.

Good kill. Nothing surprises them more than a 4wd launch but it's not recommended to use 4W-Auto, rather use the 4-Hi and then switch back into 2wd after getting out of the hole.

a little off topic, but my father in laws 99 250 7.3 was running like 18s all day. i put a sct tunner in it. then intake, full exhaust. and i did a 4hi launch and switched it back at the 1-2 shift.. wow what a difference, his top end sucks but that 0-70 is nice.. he ran about a 15.8 or so.. if i can remeber correctly. but does not compare to the new diesels. my buds 04 gm 6.0 has full exhaust and a chip and is running high 13s with no traction.

With Auto 4wd the rear tires have to slip before the front engage, which means that the rears are spinning faster and either have to slow down quickly or the fronts have to speed up quickly, which adds stress to the drivetrain components. There have also been a lot of guys who have tried it at the track and said that it makes strange grinding or vibrating noises. If you start with 4wd engaged fully you shouldn't have any problems.

Ooooh ok! Cool, yeah I don't think having the power being transfered back and forth would do much good to the drive train.

What about with a manual transfer case? same deal? obviously i don't have auto 4x4 on it, but i wasn't sure about shifting outta 4x4 back into 2wd on the hammer. i just don't think the 4x4 will disengage until after i get off the gas
