Default GTO rematch

I was at the usual hangout a couple Saturdays ago and someone wanted to run a 03 GTO he just bought. He asked if I wanted to run because he heard Ls were fast and so on.We lined up and went from a dig.Sure wish I remembered to turn the O/D off .I ran him in O/D and got him by a car to a car and a 1/2.Now I went up to the same spot and his buddy that was w/ him says that the guy w/ the car has had practice and wants to run again.I'm thinking he's done something to it.Oh well I'm gonna run him again and see what happens.

You're probably right..he may have done something to his car. Up to what speed did you race too? Unless you get up to speeds to allow the 3-4 shift, O/D off won't matter. Or did you not like the fact it shifted into O/D, at wot, after you let off?

if he added just bolt ons you'll probably still out run him by a 1/2 length or so. The 03's were the 5.7 motors, same as fbodys.

We went to 80-85 and shut down. The truck pulls harder with the O/D off.Plus it seems like I can launch a little harder w/o feeling like the tires want to break loose.I've raced a RSX Type S with the O/D on and beat him by about 5-6 cars but when I turned it off I was able to launch a little better and got him by 7-8 cars.

The majority of the ls1 GTO's Ive raced have been around 9.2x range with a decent driver stock, they are around 400lbs heavier than the f-bods

It had to be an 04 GTO, first year of em, and they are 5.7L engines, but not Fbodys, they had the base model corvette engine, 350HP, and yes they feel like they are pretty heavy cars, i'm thinking around 3750 or so, and quarter mile times vary from about a 13.7 to 14.4 depending on how well the driver can launch the car with the IRS.
