Default subaru wrx race # 2

awhile back i posted about a race with a wrx

well his excuse back then was that his clutch was no good so he wanted a rematch, well i asked him what else he did besides a clutch, he told me exhaust and up pipe, i told him his car sounds the same from the last time i raced him, so i dont know what to believe he has..

well it went like this, 2 races, 1 dig, 1 15roll, the road was a thin two lane ugly crapy road,

so we line them up and 3 honks later we are off, we take off about the same, and all of a sudden its like nitrous kicked in, i guess his turbo was fully working and he put like 1 car length between his back and my front bumper.. stayed like that till 90.. congradulated him on the win, then told him, lets do 20 roll

so we go back, i select 1st gear, and 3 honks later and we are off, i thought i would get killed, but it stayed even till my 2nd gear ended 85 and after that i started inching away from him to about 100 and he let off, fell back to far.

i was shocked at the match from a dig, i really thought i was going to take him, but i really dont know his mods, so who knows.. boy i hate loosing and loosing to a cocky person..the rematch is on, we both agreed, except i'm ont telling him my cam will be in next time as well as a tune.. i think some 6400 shift points will take care of that evenness from a roll.

thanks for reading the book.

I'd say say it was not a death... You did not hook very well from a dig and from a roll you took him. Next time we will get it on film.

RGV told me that WRX had only an uppipe and a catback...so it's got maybe 15whp more than stock. It spools a lot quicker but they run mad rich stock too...like ~10:1

Apparently your truck runs mid 14s or so, the match is pretty even considering the mod levels. If that WRX got a tune or a turboback those are both ~$500 mods or less and add a solid 25rhp or more depending on mods.

I just wish I could find some suckers to race around here ... only place I can get races is at the track .. and even then, some of the guys run over other cars and cut some more off just to avoid racing me ....

why a 15 or 20 roll? hell the best my truck pulls is from a 30. i have 3.42's though. i dont ever race from a roll unless it is from a 30 or a 65-70.

So he can start in 1st gear and not have the tranny down shift on its own. You get better results when going from a roll if you start in the desired gear than letting your tranny shift on its own. I think its called gear lag.

If you let it shift on its own though, you get the flash from the converter. Mine will flash higher if I nail it from 1k rpms rather than 3500 rpms.

the reason i select 1 is cause the wrx is standard, he has no waitng for the transmission to downshift, if i dont select 1 and let the tranny do it on its own the initial downshift would be enough time for the other car to eat my lunch and get ahead

i've done tests like that to where if its even in a race without touching the shifter, i can come out winning if i do mess with the shifter..

sleeper, i guess 30 is a sweet spot, i dont know mine, but i do like 15 to 20mph punches..

oh yea, it also seems to me that it would be easier on the tranny without it downshifting., but then again, i dont know, jmo.
