well did a little racing with 5.0 GT~1990 model,,,, he was behind me reving his motor and stuff then he thought he had a chance to go around me and when I saw him jumped onto the other lane I stomped on mine (~65mph roll) went up to 100mph and he stayed right at my rear wheel.... we got to the next stop light and he asked me what kind of exhaust I had cause it sounded good, so I ask him if he wanted to race from a 20mph (I dropped it to 1st and manual shift it) and he said ok so to say the least I got OWNED!! he had about 2 cars length on me by 100mph.... so we kind of ride next to each other talking and he said he had a 5.0 with a cobra intake and that his best at the track was 13.5!! so I knew it wasnt no stock 5.0 mustang for sure, then so we went at it again from about a 30mph (this time I did not manual shift) and we stayed even up to about 70mph when he let go, then we just did a dumbs up and turned back and went home.... I past my exit/turn about 3miles back..

 

Those old 5.0s are CHEAP to make quick..

 

There are a lot of mods for stangs. I raced a GT yesterday (don't know his mods). He got a 1-2 second jump on me but I quickly caught him and barely and I mean barely started to walk him.

Good god Thats a fast 5.0!! All of my buddies in high school had those and they are really ridiculously cheap to mod. I havent seen many that were quick enough to keep up with an SRT10 truck with a turbo though

 

good race ap... right before my buddy died he was builing up his old notch. Completley forged 5.0 and built aod tranny, 5 lug conversion, is all he got to... he had some major plans way beyond my thinking. Now his bro and I are building it in his honor.

You keeping up with him within 2 lengths is pretty reasonable, you need some gears tho

 

Yea no kidding. It was a newer model. I was also only running 3 lbs of boost at the time. Regardless his **** was no doubt fast. I think I surprised him when I started walking away.

yeah, they're quick. I got a '91 GT I'm building now... it'll be pretty nasty when it's done. The power to weight is awesome, once you start modding one they grow greatly with each upgrade. I know a guy that took a completely bone stock GT 5.0 with some spray into mid 11s!!

I've always wanted a Fox body 5.0 since I was like 10.

They are light, the 5.0 302ci motors have alot of potential, reliability and performance parts are very affordable... plus they have one of the best sounding exhaust I've ever heard.
