And isnt skeet running a 4l60? Last time i looked i think he was...
I agree with zero2sixt tho, if you have a builder competent enough, a 4l60 will handle everything but the wildest of combinations. I have a buddy with a turbo 6 liter in a reg cab on 10lbs with a 60 built by a local builder back home(no big name here, just knows how to build a tranny) and has been beating on it for 2-3 years...
Please tell me a 60 cant handle power again?... But personally, i dont listen to what gurus on the interweb have to say

Here, I'll tell you again: A 60E isn't worth a **** for power handling.
I'm sure you know your ****, with your reference to the "interweb". Right. Really, kid? If you don't listen to "gurus", then why even join this site? Are we all here to listen to you? You go back to this thread, just to insert your ignorance--no experience with running a 60E under serious power, or anything. What a joke.

Well, I got to do some more racing tonight. Raced a new 5.0 mustang auto. His only mods were a catback. Hung window to window with him until about 50mph, then he just walked me until about 105mph. I would say I got beat by about 2.5 to 3 car lengths. I watched the 5.0 run earlier that night and ran within a half a car length of a bolt on, 6.0, 6 speed gto.
The more I think, it makes me want to consider if my transmission has ever been into. I bought the truck with 120xxx miles and I have been beating on it ever since. My truck has 155xxx on it now. Although, I always put my truck in 3 instead of drive when I race, and rarely do WOT downshifts. I have been thinking to just buy a converter for the 60e and then sell it when the 60e takes a **** and swap to a 4l80.
Does breaking a tranny usually take out the converter, or can it just be flushed out?

Well this thread went all over the place.
I blew up 3 4l60e in my old 02 RCSB with just a good tune and some basic bolton's. Had I kept the truck I would have gone to an 80e in a heartbeat.
Lucky I knew the tech's at GM pretty well and truck was still under warranty and hooked me up and got it all covered under warranty

FWIW my $ 02. My 07 weighed 4900lbs + me 225. I had the 60e built by a guy in Grand Prairie and ran mid 7's with no issues in 4wd on a new truck with an STS and mods. Problem is eventually it would've died or needed a rebuild. He said usually the cutoff point on a well built 60 is about 500 rwhp as an average. Then its a matter of time. Mind you, this is a well built trans. If I were you looking down the road for 600 rwhp I would do the 80e with a different gearset since its a heavy truck UNLESS you want a loose converter so you don't have a slow 60 ft time. I personally didn't care for a loose converter on the street for a DD. The ratios available are: 2.97 or 2.75 1st. 1.57 2nd for the 80e. Check "Summit Racing". Best of luck on your build sir!
