I've mentioned it before, but my daily all through college was an 85 with a 500 horse 454 and a th400 trans, and 3.42 gears out back. Miller lite drove it most nights and it's amazing I never crashed it.....I was an absolute punk in that thing lol.

Keep doing what you do.........
Lol yep Iv seen some of those nights... Close one eye and focus haha. Don't do any of that now because of my job but high school and college was fun lol. But yeah suspension was questionable to say the least. I'll take better pics of the rear but you won't believe how it was done up and welded. Def not safe especially with any kind of power and sticky tires. Was an accident waiting to happen. Truck itself seems to be very solid. After seeing the suspension and other things is when o pretty much decided to start from the ground up with it and get everything done right. Body is real straight and actually in very good condition so trying to kinda restore it to a certain point but always make it more fun to drive and actually enjoy. This won't be a all out drag truck by no means but a nice weekend cruiser and car show attendee. As you can tell from my previous posts it's going to retain all its creature comforts and so on but with a nice classy modern touch to it. Over all it should be a very fun truck with the ability to drive like any other modern truck on the road. Like I said its my first sqaure body I get my hands on so want to do it right.

Thumbs up

This has to be the nicest 73'-87' truck build I have ever seen. After seeing the questionable suspension work, are you going to check out the engine and transmission before throwing any power at them?

Thanks have a long way to go with it but should be a fun project when done. So far from what I can see by inspecting the motor/trans it looks good but will only be able to really tell once I get the truck running. I don't doubt they will be fine since those were bought parts. I do have to make sure the transmission is in good working order since I was told it wouldn't go into revers and wasn't sure if it had a trans brake or not. I just haven't checked under the trans for the wires but sure being a Jakes it does.
