Default Slow 408 Build

Started a thread a while back about doing a 370 but I have since then decided to just go ahead and do a 408. My goal on the N/A setup is to reach 500rwhp so I will make adjustments accordingly from my base build to reach that goal or at least get close.

For now I will run stock ported/polished L92 heads milled 30 and then later switch to a non milled head to drop the compression and run turbo. When I do that I will buy a good set of heads. At that time I will decide if I want to keep the Ls3 car intake or upgrade. Haven't decided that detail yet.

So far I have the following parts:
6.0 block bored to 4.030
LS3 car intake, fuel rail, and injectors (To be upgraded)
90mm Throttle body
Callies Compstar 4" stroke crank
Callies Compstar 6.125" H-Beam Rods
ARP 2000 Rod Bolts
Wiseco 4.030" -15cc Pistons
Wiseco Steel top/Napier bottom rings
Clevite Rod/Main Bearings

I have a 224/230 610/605 111 cam in the 5.3 currently but will likely just buy a new cam for the 408 because I haven't been seeing the numbers I want from people running a cam that small in a 408. Likely get upper 240 with a 109lsa.

I should also be buying a Nitrous kit soon and an Aeromotive 340 fuel pump. I will likely run those on my 5.3 for now If I can diagnose a clanking noise when the engine is cranking. Hoping it's not internal.

Talk about SLOW.
5.3 broke a lifter at 215,000 miles with a 224/230 cam making 340-360 to the ground and shifting at 6800 every day for several years. Not too bad.
That means that I FINALLY put the 408 together. THO i'm not running the L92 heads I want I am running 317's milled .040 to bring the compression up around 10.4 or so.
Since the 224 cam got ate up I purchased Dirt Track Racers old cam which is a 244/248 612/615 112. Fixing to install some LS2 injectors and start bumping up my timing. Will dyno eventually after I upgrade the intake and exhaust.

What did you use to spray your trans cooler black?

It's not. The a/c condensor is black and the billet grille is black. Most people just use paint and make a really light coat. Basically just mist over it.
In my case I have a billet insert that I painted black and you can't even tell that the transcooler is there unpainted.

definitely some nice parts, looking at that cam i personally think it'll work well for your 408 not really set on the 112 but it is what it is ! should be a nice lil 408 once done
