Last night my girlfriend backed into a parked truck. I am pretty sure that my bumper already had some of the dent by the plastic. It just barely kissed my bedside but the bumper isn't pushed in. Oh well.

Oh Man!
Wait, is this same girlfriend that put that nasty gouge into your Silverado?! Why does she keep driving your trucks? LoL.
You gotta pay for the other guy's bumper? And what are you going to do about yours? 🤔
😢
Yes same girlfriend that put the gouge in the Silverado lol
She has been driving the diesel because she was out of a car for a couple of weeks. No problems until last night. Actually she drives pretty well. I don't know what was going through her mind when she decided to park like this though. I always tell her reversing in is easier than pulling forward.
Insurance will work with the other guy. I am not planning on fixing mine.

Ah, that makes sense. Yeah, reversing is the most difficult part. Why my company requires that you back into parking spaces when parking, if at all possible. Hopefully they won't increase your premium too much or at all.
I wonder if your bumper can be straightened out a bit, then just body filler and painted/color matched? IDK if I've seen that on these chrome bumpers? Not saying that's what you want, just thinking out loud here...🤔🤷
I know that normally the chrome cracks if you try and straighten it. I actually think it could be possible to body fill it and paint it. Too bad that the other side has a hole going through the bumper lol
I would like to find a powder coated/painted bumper to replace it with at some point but I think for now I am just going to get some Diode Dynamics XPR reverse lights and start with that. Should help with backing up at night lol
I'll replace the bumper another time.

same we have a no reverse first policy at work with company trucks, I’ve been backing into parking spots, and my drive way for 20 years. But don’t dare ask me to pull forward into a parking spot, i will look like I’ve never drove a day in my life.
I can do either but pulling forward with a larger truck is not so easy. TCC requires you to pull into the spot. I got a warning once back in 2019 because I backed into a spot in the back 40. Wasn't a car within 20 spots of me...
i know some parking garages get **** about backing in - but that's because too many doofuses bust holes in the concrete using their trailer hitches as the "stop indicator".
but i agree: backing into a parking spot is the best option unless it's angled for a directional traffic lane (in which case, you look like a moron parking the wrong way). i taught my wife those principles, and now she points out people who nose in poorly & gripes when folks can't see to back out of a nosed-in parking spot.
I have looked some parking garages for structural assessments and the barrier cables have been snapped. So it turns out guys with trucks and towing hitches/***** will back into parking spaces, not knowing their ball slowly went under the cable. When they leave they'll drive off and break the cables. That is the only downside I've found...
You can't win, I tell you. But regardless, I think backing into parking spaces is better, in spite of the drawbacks. I know this family from church, the babysitter ran over one of the kids she was babysitting, backing up, and he died. It was horrible. Truly horrible. It actually happens more than you would imagine. Horrible 😢
