What I actually need is a bolt 180mm long! doh! I upgraded to a 12.9 rated bolt and made sure this length bolt would contact all threads in the crank snout. (that was a nice 2 hour journey)
stock bolt, 130mm bolt vette guys use with Innovators West Damper, 180mm Bolt needed for Innovators West Damper (truck application)

upgraded to a 12.9

machined nylon to hold crank keyway in place when bolt is tightened (sandwiched), this is the correct length for vette applications, I'll need a different length for my truck application........

I'll be working on the fuel system and blower assembly today

Is that a custom beveled washer on your new bolt? Let us know what the nylon length winds up being. Are ya gonna feed this info back to Innovators West? With the keyway in place now what are your bolt torque plans?

I should have bought stock in ARP before the start of gripp's project

Very cool bro!

Yes, I bought the damper from ECS, they provided the 130mm bolt, machined spacer, and machined beveled washer, this is what fits their corvette setups, trucks is different.

From my measurements, what I came up with is distance from crank snout to balancer outer edge (where ECS's machined washer would flush too) is 65.2mm. the inner lip on the machined washer ECS provides is 3.2mm. so I would need a plastic spacer 62mm wide (16.5mm ID/36mm OD) to fill the gap

... and you calculated you'll have enough threads on the new bolt to fully seat and torque? I know its a dumb question... but I've made that mistake before

of course, the new bolt actually uses ALL the threads now, so it's better setup with regards to that

FYI: the beveled machined washer measures 9.5mm wide total, Large OD is 50mm, Large OD width is 6.3mm, Small OD is 36mm, Small OD width is 3.2mm, ID is 16.3mm. If I where going to machine a new washer I would go with a full 10mm of material and add that to the Large OD portion as there is currently only about 1.5mm gap from the end of the 180mm bolt to "butting up" against the back of the crank snout ID , oh yeah, and I'd get that sum bitch Zinc plated

ok, I actually measured the room I had left before the bolt would bottom out, I'm at 2.642 mm of head room before the bolt would bottom; this needs to be enough for any final settling the crank gear/oil pump gear/crank damper may see PLUS torque to spec movement (still not determined)..........does that look like enough?

on a dial caliper that seems like alot of room to me..............

I guess you could put some wax or clay on the end of the bolt and snug it down and see what actual room you have?
