That a brass AN fitting?

Wht makes the ARP bolts so good for the cam retainer plate and camshaft gear? Its not a high stress area and the stock bolts are plenty strong enough

Do you not add ARPs for strength? Im just asking why he replaced something that doesnt need it, why do you need a great quality bolt for something that the stocker is more then enough for? Thats why I asked since an engine builder with TONS more experience then me likes them and I am wondering why.

I had a truck in here (2005 silverado 5.3L) with two fugged up cam bolts last week. Kept getting a cam sensor code, low and behold the timing gear was loose due to the shitty stock bolts.

You asked a question, I answered it. I feel that if the bolts were in the budget why not? I guess your question would be the same as me asking why build a 418 when all the 408's are running just fine without any flaws.

Calm down. A little overkill never hurt anyone if it makes them feel better. But stock bolts SHOULD be fine if installed properly. 90% of the load on the cam gear is shear load which doesn't require as high a quality metal as a rod bolt which is under tensil load.
Lookin good moregrip. Now hurry up!

My answer for that would be I didnt know very much when I started that build and listened to an old school performance shop that didnt know **** about GEN III stuff, in hindsight I would have went 408, thats why I tell everyone saying they are going to build a 418 to go 408
