From what I observed with EFILive, it was the K&N filter but I have no doubt the supercharger wasn't seating 100% with the valley cover with the front PCV valve. So even though I removed the PCV components and filled the hole on the front in the hopes of fixing the leak, I'm definitely glad I did for the benefit of better sealing.

Got the first order of parts for the intake project:

As an added bonus, I found an online store that ships from Canada, so I got this stuff yesterday morning and I ordered it monday afternoon...I'm not used to this kind of service! I'm used to waiting a week+ and getting a bullshit bill from UPS for like 50% of the cost of my order

Started to mock up the intake a bit this weekend. I bought a 45° and a 90° bend because I wasn't sure how elaborate the routing was going to be, but I was pleased to find the 45° is about perfect. I wish it was about 4-6" longer, but I'm going to be able to make it work without having to weld any other bends onto it and maintain as simple of a routing as possible.

So in the interest of simplicity, I'm now debating fabricating a heat shield around the filter, or just attaching the filter onto the end of the tube and leaving it 'hang' off the throttle body. I'm planning on testing IATs at a couple different stages, but I have a strong suspicion putting a heat shield around the filter will have a negligible effect. What I do like about having a heat shield is that I can use it to support the intake tube, so there's no possibility of the filter pulling the intake tube down or worst case off the throttle body, but being realistic, after the tube is clamped to the silicone bend off the throttle body, I strongly doubt it the filter/velocity stack is heavy enough to pull the tube downward.

I used the heat shield from the K&N kit thinking it might work for what I want, but after measuring it was clear it would not work, so I just used it for mockup.

I put the old K&N filter on too for the same reason of mocking up and measuring clearance. The K&N kit filter measures 7.5" (base diameter) by 6.5" (height) and the one I want to run is about 11" at the base by 9" so the new heat shield will have to be custom made to accommodate the filter.

I ordered a 22° silicone bend for this connection which looks like it should work out fine.

This shows the mounting location of the K&N heat shield:

And here are a couple arrows indicating how I would modify the new heat shield; primarily moving the longitudinal side ~2" towards the driver side and move the hole about the same distance towards the front of the truck.

Thanks, that is helpful. Is that a 45 silicone off the TB and a cut 45 aluminum tube? And I assume SD tune?
