You ever hear about the guys that won’t change fluid in high mileage transmissions bc they are afraid the material in the fluid helps with friction? I know of several 4l80’s that the owners won’t change it out. Lol
Funny you say that, many years ago I worked at a Jiffy Lube while in school and they had a strange but similar philosophy, if the car was close to or over 100k mi we would not do a pan drop/filter change and instead used the flush machine only. I mean this super duper flush machine is still pumping fluid in/out of the contaminated filter anyway and certainly did not clean the magnet.

I may not be right, but I've never had a 4l80e slip on high mileage OEM fluid. I've had multiple HD trucks with 280,000+ miles on factory fluid and the transmission was the last thing on my mind. Don't let the magic out IMO.
the 4l60e doesn't last long enough to ever worry about a fluid changes
around 130,000 miles is when I start looking at the 60e out of the corner of my eye in a truck. I know a ton of people have made it 200k miles but I haven't been that lucky. The last 60e I had rebuilt was at 135,000. I just quit buying anything with the 60e in it other than my WS6 I picked up a few years ago. If the 60e in it dies I have a spare stage 5 jakes 80e with the D3 trans brake
I’ve been spraying the dowel pins with PB Blaster everyday for the last couple of days. It was still a chore to break it free though. Put a little bit of heat to each dowel pin and shook the trans from the rear mount and finally it broke loose. That was harder than expected though. Now to get her out from under the truck……
I didn’t know of it until now. I’ll probably get some of it though. Never hurts to have a stock of stuff like that.
Last bit of little upgrades came in….steel pump rings and stiffer pump slide spring. Only have a few more bushings to beat out so I can install the new bronze ones. El cheapo Amazon clutch compressor actually worked and I got the 1-2-3-4 billet piston installed. I also got most of the way done with installing the mishimoto trans cooler. I didn’t realize the kit still uses the factory cooler inline with the new cooler, so that’s pretty cool. I have to get some more Kooler Kleen flush and I can finish bolting that all together.
