Well its running. Got it fired up today. Motor sounds great, very quiet. I heat cycled it and drained the oil and changed filter. Cut filter open, all looks well so far. I didn't get to drive it as it was storming pretty hard this eve so tomorrow is another day.

I pre heated my oil prior to filling and starting it, hot oil pressure is 40-42 and with any throttle it jumps up fast. As long as the weather is ok it will see some boost tomorrow.

So far it's running good. I got it good and heat soaked yesterday, hot oil pressure is mid 30's at idle in park. By 3000 rpm it's 60 and I've only had it up to 5600rpm so far and it was 72psi.

I can feel it getting stronger with every drive. Haven't went 100% throttle yet but it appears I lost about 1psi boost. Not sure how long to wait before doing a full wide open pull. I've just been putting good heat cycles on it and varying load and boost. I'll drain the second batch of oil at the 100-200 mile mark and then run another batch of break in till 500.

The best way to break a motor in is a little warm up to check for leaks or an issues that need to be addressed. Shortly thereafter, a nice strong hit to the rev limiter seems to work real nice.

I used to be all cautious about breaking motors in unit I was 18 when I started working at my current engine builders machine shop. I went with him on day to get a motor setup on the dyno. We finished rather quickly so he said I could stay and watch/learn. He warmed it up, check for leaks, checked the valve lash and Wham, made a full power hit. I was like holy ****, so much for setting the rings. His comment was that with todays honing practices/ring packages......the dame thing probably is done setting the rings from turning the motor over by hand while it is being built.

Obviously anything with a hydraulic flat tappet is a little different and does require a break in.

Ya. I gave it a couple wide open pulls last night. I talked with TSP as they built the short block and they said after a good heat cycle and oil change let it rip. So I did. Working on the tune, it really seems to like timing.

The 2.8 pullley is giving me around 15psi
