What did you use to cover the threads on the water pump pulley?

Leftcoast32.com makes a water pump pulley nut that covers them, that's what it is.

Over 10 years ago I had mine flushed and green Prestone was put in. When the top end was off new green was put in. It's worked flawless and I have no complaints, too many ...horror stories..lol..with dexcool when I worked at the dealer.

Dexcool only has issues when ran for a prolonged time with low coolant level.IE 10k + miles! I'm running Dexcool in my truck. I have been a GM tech for almost 20 years. I have seen the Dexcool issues first hand, however they were caused by low coolant for many many miles....

I like dexcool and I like green coolant. I'd run either without a care.
