Well, here it goes. I picked up an LQ9 in December and now I'm using it to help break in our new shop at school. Plans for the engine are as follows:

Crankshaft: Stock LQ9
Rods: Stock Floating
Pistons: Forged Flat Top's, Mahle -4cc 0.030'' overs
Cam: 219/224 609/604 115 LSA
Heads: 317's milled, or 243's if I can get a good deal on them.

After tearing it down, and loading it up for school. And it begins

Got the block all cleaned up and ready for some measurements and more inspection. Next I'm gonna get a coat of paint on the block and finish cleaning up the front and rear covers, valve covers, oil pan, windage tray, pick up tube, etc. Anyone wanna cut me some good deals on pistons let me know haha.

 

i have some forged 6.1" rods that i will be posting tomorrow.

 

Looks like a fun build, wish i could have taken part in a full build while i was going to auto tech school at SIU in illinois.. they had all the tools but i just didnt have the money..

Cool project, your school sprung for some expensive equipment...we have a T-Ten grad working at our shop...

 

Thanks guys. It's at Citrus College in Glendora, CA. The shop is almost all completely new. I know I'm probably not going to have the opportunity to work on a bunch of brand new equipment so I'm trying to take advantage of it while I can. It's hard when money is really really tight.. Taking donations any time

 

Looks like a legit program. I took a program at Saddleback College once and it's a **** automotive department run by a **** instructor.
