Hey, I have a perfect lq9. I would trade you that plus some cash for that 410 if it only needs a new piston. PM if your interested I know a long shot but a 40k lq9 might be better than your 5.3

Just thought I would add, I have been thinking about it the last few days, and I dont think my setup ever worked correctly from the beginning. I have a feeling both 7 and 8 injectors were clogged because given the amount of boost I was running and everything else, I should have felt a lot more power than I actually did...but that would be explained pretty well if I was only running on 6ish cylinders. With that in mind, I am surprised the engine lasted as long as it did. I mailed my injectors off to FIC to have tested, but due to the weather they probably wont get there until tomorrow (only shipping from AL to GA), so it will be sometime next week before I can actually drive again. I have my stock 5.3 intake, but dont have my injector connectors since the 60s used EV6 connectors.

hmm, altho I await those results. I think you would have felt more stumbling and noticable things. I hate to see you go down the path of several members, by parting out, or moving to a side truck. But after blowing up a motor and 8 trannies, i cant blame u, as well as alotta other BS

I thought that same thing, but perhaps the injectors were only partially clogged so it would idle fine, but anything demanding and it just couldnt keep up...

Wow, this sucks. Sorry to see. First of all you had the wrong plugs in, should have been the taper style not the washer. Second from the piston pics it looks like it was running super lean. The pistons are super clean next to where the intake valve relief is. Should be more carbon on the pistons if A/F was correct even only having 600 miles on the motor. I agree with Cody on the ring gap position, should have been on the other side of the cylinder. If infact that is the gap..

Usually when it detonates from being lean the top of the ringland lifts off, this almost looks like its blown through the side of the piston at the gap, which could be a overly rich condition. Excess fuel seeps between top and second ring through the top ring gap and then ingnites and blows out the side of the piston..thats what it looks like.

Heres a better picture of the other ones

I did a lot of reading about the plugs before buying the ones I did. There was a lot of discussion about the washer vs taper type and it kept hearing both would work fine even though the taper ones are the defacto type.

OK nevermind on looking lean, it was the other pic that made it look that way.
