Default Diggin this project!

I just read this entire thread between last night and this morning. Your work quality is absolutely outstanding! LIVE the Escalade console addition, that makes the interior VERY nice!

Really dig the turbo and all your work into cleaning up the engine bay.

I have a bright red RCSB also; mine's a 2011. This project is quite an inspiration!

Thanks guys, appreciate the compliments. I have almost hit the one year mark of ownership, so I'm really hoping to make a WOT run before then.

Things left to do:
Swap 4L80e
Build rear-end
Alignment
Exhaust
Dyno tune

She is back to normal, can't even tell anything happened other than the lump under her neck skin where they put the pacemaker. Now we are prepping for her next surgery to remove a huge bladder stone... Also found out the girlfriends father has to have heart surgery in the next few weeks. When it rains it pours I guess.

Decided to tear apart the differential and tackle that job. Install kit shows up tomorrow, but still need to order the 3.90 gears

That's on my to do list also (just gears and trutrac).
I had 3.90 gears in my 1969 390 AMX they were the perfect ratio for that car.
Do a step by step tutorial to help an old guy out lol

No, not crazy. I had built that a while ago but made some mistakes and had a slight whine and bearing noise. So I stripped all those parts out and going to redo it. Also, that axle wasn't prepped very well before paint, so it rusted and just looked like ****, the one in this truck is much nicer

Sometimes I feel like its a curse, because I stress over dumb **** and redo stuff a lot if I'm not happy

Ordered the 3.90 gears at like 9pm Friday night, and they showed up Saturday morning. Summit is the ****

Pressed on the new bearings and then used the press to set the ring gear and torque the bolts down

Setup bearings on the pinion

Here's the final install pattern. 0.033" shim, 0.006" backlash, and 16in-lbs of pre-load on the pinion bearings.

Went for a drive after getting it all back together and I didn't hear a sound from the rear end. I could hear my tires on the road when next to a concrete barrier, so I know I should have heard a bad rear end sound.

I hope this one lasts and is quiet, my last install was full of whine and bearing noise, but I noticed that within the first 5mins of driving it.

That pattern looks textbook perfect! Please report how you like the 3.90's. That's exactly what I plan to put in my 2011.

What is the diameter of your tires?
