I don't think he has ever made a good clean 1/4 mile pass. Even on the old setup. I would love to see it though.

Nope, havent made a good 1/4 pass ever. Not really a track close enough and the one time I did go my fuel pumps were being bitches.

Sorry for slightly off topic, was reading a thread about 4L60E or 4L80E and you commented in there that you preffered 4L60E for a street driven truck, what trans do you have in your truck? It wasn't obvious in one of your pics looked like it was the stock tranny cross member. I would have assumed you are using a 4L80E?

I believe I said that when I had my other truck (2004 ext cab), which was lifted with 35s and weighed about 6300lb. With those big, heavy tires and lots of weight the lower first gear of the 60e was useful, however for a stock height or lowered "street truck" the 80e has a better feel to it, especially the 1-2 shift. I have an 80e in this truck, and you are correct its a stock crossmember, there is just some bar stock welded and drilled on the back of it to make it work with the 80e.

Thanks for the info, I've got everything but the drive shafts for the swap and am dropping my 4L80 off next week to get rebuilt and was just reading up to make sure that was the way to go before I go and spend all that extra $$, which it still sounds like it is even though it will be a pain to do I'm sure in the end it will be worth it.

A member on here actually bought it in January after I put it back to stock.


I havent updated this thread in a while....had a lot going on in life. Moved cities, bought a house, started a new job, etc etc. Truck has been fine though, drove it 180 miles loaded with two engines, an engine hoist, 2 engine stands, jack, jackstands etc. and it did fine. Been driving it around pulling a 6x11 utility trailer with a lawnmower on it

Today I was on a relatively quiet road and gave it a little gas and it spins the tires pretty effortlessly in 2wd. 60mph 3rd gear burnouts without ever getting over 60% throttle. The powerband on this thing makes it very fun to drive.
