Cam is here. Why does it say .552 rather than .553? And should I be worried about that white **** in the third pic?

No, looks like paint though, hard to scratch off, wasn't gonna screw with it till I asked if this was a common thing

I wouldnt worry about thousandth of an inch of lift White stuff is probably from when they machined it. Its not on an important surface so I wouldnt worry about it.

I like to worry. Haha but thanks for the reassurance

Taxes come in soon, so springs and pushrods will be ordered soon.

I wouldve bought the length checker first to make sure you got the right length, but 7.4 is the most common with aftermarket cams.

Absolutely buy the pushrod length checker and double check the pushrod length required with good lifter preload.

Alright well to avoid delays, I'm gonna keep the 7.4's on order, but get the checker tool also, so best case scenario it'll take the 7.4's and the truck will only be down for a day, worst case I gotta mail back the 7.4's and wait for an alternate size to arrive.

Also I figure I'll use the wooden dowel method to hold up the lifters, who has used this method? Are the dowels going in next to the camshaft, like the JPR tool (or whatever its called), or do they go in place of every pushrod? (I've done this way on my Cummins)
