Graeme's Daily Driver 2003 4x4 Build
Alright so I've been on here awhile but never really posted much about my truck. So here goes, it's not going to as interesting as you guys who are running 10's but it is what it is.
First off I'll show you guys my past two trucks.
My 2002 Dakota the day I got it
Then I did exhaust, lift, tires, roll pan, bumper. She ended up being sold looking like this.
Then I got the diesel, a good old 1995 12 valve Cummins.
She came with a built trans from Garmon, a ridiculous stack, some injectors (5x12's), peeling paint and a blown stock turbo
So naturally I bought a huge turbo. a 66/72
And started experimenting with plastic dip.
The truck then got a normal 4 inch exhaust with a muffler, intake, gauges.
Then after about 6 months of driving with the new turbo I broke the input shaft.
It did not like a full throttle, locked converter shift from first into second. I swear the whole truck jumped into the air when this snapped.
We put a billet shaft in, freaking 700 dollar shaft.
After the input shaft breaking, and making numerous drives from MA to SC for school, I decided a single cab diesel wasn't the truck for me. It sure was fun, and I estimate it was making 450 hp, put her on craigslist, and a guy flew from North Dakota to South Carolina to buy her. I **** you not, I picked him up at the airport he handed me a bag full of a cash and he drove off into the sunset
One of the last pics I have of her.
Okay so now onto my current truck.

So here she is. Bought her down here in SC, rust free, and she was beautiful.
The tint was so dark, that I couldn't see **** at night while backing up, so I bought an eBay LED pod and attached it to the hitch.
Next I got rid of the ridiculous dual straight piped exhaust.
Here's my buddy Ryan welding, he's done all of my exhausts, and frequently lets me use his lift. He's a good friend It got a custom Y-pipe because the stock one was ruined from the previous exhaust, a magna flow collector, then 3 inch pipe to a 3inch mangaflow with a dump before the axle.

Then I replaced some front end parts, and upgraded my shocks, let me tell you I love Bilsteins!
Next I cracked open the trans with a buddy of mine Jake, he's the most experienced with tranny's in our friend group. Automotive and the back alley kind.
We used Ryan's lifts again, thank you Ryan. Transgo HD2 shift kit and a corvette servo. Literally the only pic I have from the day is of Jake ******* with the valve body, because the rest of the time I was covered in trans fluid. Ironically this captured the exact moment we screwed up and put a valve in backwards, causing us to pull the valve body again, and me buying another case of tranny fluid...
And then I got these meaty things.
Falken Wildpeak A/T 305/65 R18
That's me next to them.

So I don't know if I previously mentioned but the hood had a nasty dent from the previous owner, and after owning the truck for about 6 months it really finally got to me. So I dug a hood out of a junkyard, an 06 style, it was honestly dented equally as bad, but I wanted the hood conversion haha
An old friend of my dad does painting, so he hooked it up, it's not showroom quality, but I was happy with the outcome and made the truck look much better. Bought the new style grill too.
This is how she sits today. Boston hat on the dash

These are the most recent mods, I have done these all within the past 2 months.
She got LS1 fans, Derale trans cooler, home made intake tube and a pioneer subwoofer. I used LS1fans.com's harness and I was impressed with the quality.
I'm thinking of writing a how-to on how to make the 4inch intake with stock airbox.
Well that's all for today haha

It had a few problems though. It turned the oil into diesel fuel within 3k miles, which I think was due to leaking injectors. It also was a single cab, and the paint was garbage. If all of those problems were fixed I surely would have kept it.
Also the price I was able to sell it for allowed me to get a much newer and comfortable truck, with left over cash for mods so I still am pleased with my decision and do not regret it. Also diesel is nearly $1 more per gallon than gasoline in SC, so while I am at school its much more affordable. Especially considering the 1,000 mile journey back home, the comfort, fuel type, and maintenance affordability all made more sense.
As for the cam, I will be ordering that tomorrow
I've decided on a 212/220 .553/.553 112 LSA
That's what prompted me creating this thread.
