Default Frame differences

Hello I have a 04 Cummins with a 6 1/2 foot bed and the back of the frame by the hitch is bent really badly. I was wondering if the frame by the end of the truck are the same on short beds and longs beds. Would I be able to cut a piece of frame from a short bed or long box and have it fit my trucks frame good enough so there won’t be any headaches later on?

Usually they are slightly different between long and short bed frame's especially where the leaf hangers bolt up.... So it depend on how much you need.
