Default What Are The Spacers In Between Your Bed And Frame For?

I have been in the process of switching from a sportside bed to a fleetside and was about to set the fleetside bed on and noticed that i was missing one of the spacers that was on my frame (mounts)... i must have misplaced it at some point. I was just wondering what they were for and if they were neccessary with my fleetside bed?
