Not yet. Turns out 2005..what I have...Lq4s are unique. They have floating pins and regular dished pistons. Earlier ones have pressed pins. And later ones have floating pins but dished pistons with valve reliefs.

This may be the most debated thing I've ever researched on LS1tech. haha

Half say if you put the same piston and same rings back in the same hole, you'll be fine. Others say without a hone, you'll have an oil burning machine.

But don't people open up the gap on rings all the time and run the engine without a hone? Or is the internet lying again?

5 & 7 is pretty typical. had the same thing happen on my z28, as I slid the piston up out of the block the bottom stayed in… totally smoked the ring land right off the piston.

I agree with Atomic, buy some good rings and hit it with a hone. You'll be glad you did.

I'd go with a good aftermarket set actually, Hell-Fire would probably be my choice.

I think your gonna like that turbo, when you actually get to enjoy it. I made a few hits at 15.5psi with mine this evening. Hit a 0-60 in 4.0sec spinning in 4hi.
