I've done a ton of thinking about the swap to a gear drive during this round of updates (converting to methanol and the major front suspension set up) and have decided that the belt drive is the way to go. There is power to be had with the geardrive and potentially some added reliability (if you can't get your sideslinger brackets how they should be).

In my case though, I like to start slow and work my way up boost wise. I can change pulley setups in 10 minutes with the bracket system you and I both have. Changing blower ratios at the track with a geardrive is a pain in the *** since the blower has to come off, then you have to split the drive case which creates and oily mess to deal with. Just not worth it in my opinion. On a full race car that never changes blower drive ratios, yeah I'd go geardrive, but that is the only way.

Well the bearing info is good piece of mind. And I'm also glad you posted about the tuning aspect since here in Colorado 99% of builds are turbo. The other 1% is blower or bottle. Ill be bugging you more when its up and running. Im unsure of the weight right now. Its a little heavier than what I want. I would love to be 3999.99. But right now maybe 4200. The mild steel cage will be ripped out here soon for chrome moly. I ditched radio,ac, heat. and everything else that isnt needed. Tons of weight in wiring. My biggest difference from your build is rearend ( for now) I have a decently built 10 bolt and caltracs. Nothing fancy but should hold up ok for now then fab 9 but Im staying with the leafsprings. As for vlavetrain and all that stuff its just the regular run of the mil stuff. 243 heads, 660 springs, ls7 lifters, etc etc. Im not trying to go complete crazy on this motor. I need to learn the tunning aspect. When its ready for all the boost and all the rpm It will be a different motor (dartlsnext 427). Its been a long road with more to go. Im tired of dumping money into it right now. I just want to drive it.

I heard that man. If you followed my build, it took forever and it was just money, money, money, money.......got discouraging at times till that first fire up.

Stick at it. We'll get you in front of at least a few of the turbo trucks! lol
