NO way to talk me out of this. Again the cam was bought used. So I should be able to sell it for what I paid if it doesn't work well for my needs. Then for similar cost I can get a cam that is in the mid to lower 220s.

You aren't alone in your thoughts but there are others who think it might work just fine, or at least good enough. Few hours of my time to put this big thumper in, a few days of driving once it is tuned, and a 4000+ lb. trailer and I will then know for sure if she is coming out or kick *** and taking names!

if this is going to be your family cruiser, why kill it with a cam/converter and longtubes/exhaust. leave it stock, quiet, comfortable and most important, dependable. spend that money getting the HD rolling under its own power. the truck in your sig is the toy that can go down for months/years at a time. this new truck is supposed to be your dependable one and your half assing everything. back asswords if you ask me.

The only backward part is ideally having headers before the cam. If the cam suits my comfort and needs it is no issue.

If I didn't spend so much money on my road trip( trip of a life time! And worth it) I would have had every cent to get the HD running and this cam upgrade. This truck also sits 90% of the time because the company truck i my daily drive.

That is a shame. Hotrodding the family truckster is a not a good idea.

$100 says an identical denali with LTs, verter, and tune will blow your doors off.

I think there is a reason why that cam was for sale. And not b/c it helped put down good power.

BTW, I ran patriot .660s with a .581 lift cam. No issues.

Ya, I have Patriot .650's and my cam is in the .58x range. I don't trust single springs.

Like I said if the cam is a problem then I wil get something smaller. One the HD is running then long tubes and fairly quiet mufflers. And done.

If the cam makes it that far ( obviously I hope so) then if it seems like I am leaving too much low end on the table again a smaller cam will be in order.

what is the talk about .660 springs? I have dual Lunati golds for .660 so stock cam or .659 lift cam i will have the duals installed.

Im confused as to why you are trying to make the tahoe fast...you already have a project truck. Plus the tahoe is the DD...leave it alone. Been there done that. Put a tune and muffler on it and call it a day.

Why is everyone being a bunch of pansies? I am not turbo charging the Denali, or getting crazy with it. Simple cam, stall and tune. It is quick stock and with a the cam it should make me lots of money this summer at the street races. Then if I sqeeze it with 100 just about nothing in town will touch it. Guys with Fbodies cam, stall there cars all the time and still cram the wife and a kid into it as a daily.

I understand everyone's point but I want to jump in the truck that sits out front and go fast. Minus the 100 shot nothing is going to be wild at all. I have had the 3200 in the Tahoe for over a year with the custom tune. A cam isn't a radical modification that should or will effect longevity. The only aggressive mod I may do it the 100 shot. That mostly depends on what it runs with the cam. If it runs mid 13s I will probably not put the 100 on it but we also all know how that goes.

The HD won't be much fun at the street races because nothing will be able to run with it. a mid 12-13 flat is all that is needed to outrun about anything around here. The HD should run mid 11s with 12-15 lbs. So while to be able to have a buffer is nice and I have that option, it is also nice to be able to race on a whim and outrun what you line up against.

Then I would sell your truck and turn another tahoe into your project vehicle. Point is, as soon as you start messing with a DD, no matter how small the modification, Reliability will suffer. The more you modify it the less reliable it will be. The whole purpose of a daily driver is to be reliable.

exactly. my avalon, stock to the paper filter. my scion tc is stock to the paper filter, the HD has a magnaflow muffler on it that was there before i got it. the s10 =

i understand if you can only afford 1, or only have 1 truck as your daily and want to mod it some...but you have a truck that you call a toy. play with the toy and drive the DD.
