BTW he traded a pretty solidly built 2014 Mustang GT in on this. Thanks for enticing him and getting that FORD out of my driveway.

Yea he noticed the airbox mod. He works on Chevy's every day and his first impression is that the throttle lag that the stock 1500's have is non existent on this one. I guess the torque converter may be what's doing that but we sure figured it had a shift kit and a tune since there were no codes. It sure doesn't run like it's on a stock tune but you would know. :-) After we do the cosmetics of blacking it out and removing the badges we'll look at dod delete, cam, lifters and springs. I got out of drag racing about 12 years ago. Back then I was running a 67 Camaro in Super Street and brackets. It was a 506 all motor running 9.80's @ 134mph. It's been fun watching my son over 7 years go from my 2500HD Duramax to big turbo Cobalt SS then the Mustang an now the pickup. The mustang was nice but the Chevy engineering spanks Fords all day long. Best thing is I now get to have the fun working on projects with him but he has to foot the bill :-)

There's a special pleasure and pride in hot rodding trucks. But that's because you earn it. It ain't easy.

I wish I still had my 1999 Sonoma. Totaled in a wreck 3 months after I paid it off and was starting to think about dropping an LS6 in it.

Yea it's not like the old days when 6 bolts hold on your bumper. It was a royal pain pulling those suckers off. We were amazed how flimsy the bumpers were when we got them off.

Today is debadging day. Hopefully the bumpers and trim are ready by Tuesday so we can post some facelift photos later in the week. My son had the guy at the dealership install darker tint and a brow yesterday. It certainly looks more sinister with the darker tint.

Some other details...
o Oil was changed at 5,000 mile intervals with Mobil One.
o Truck was literally washed on almost a weekly basis.
o In the two years I owned the truck, it was professionally detailed with Zaino 6 times. Last time right before I sold it.
o I installed a catch can at 1,000 miles until I sold it.
o I had a GDI top end cleaning done by the dealership at 16,500 miles, a few months before I sold it.
o I installed new factory height tires on it right before I sold it, so I could put the stock factory tune on it. I still have a set of P255/55R18 tires with plenty of tread along with a spare tire the same height if you want them (along with the other stuff I emailed you about).

ETA: I also have a spreadsheet of every dime I spent on it if you're interested. Mindful that most of the parts listed aren't on it anymore. But I'll be happy to explain/elaborate on anything contained therein.

Russell, It was great meeting y'all today. I was happy to pass on the stuff I had left. That truck has a bright future.

It took me a while to think about it but that split y-pipe wasn't done by Rich's Performance Muffler in Wylie. They did the original dual exhaust with the factory manifolds/y-pipe.

Loaded Dice Speed Shop in Frisco did the one you have when they installed my headers.

Good to meet you too Chris. Thanks for your generosity. We filled up with E85 on the way home and I'd say it's a bit quicker than on 93. We put the Vikings on when we got home and they are much better than the Street Performance shocks. It's much less harsh ride in bumpy roads. We'll get some pictures up as soon as the black out is complete. BTW sanding chrome trim for painting is time consuming and a pain but if you want to play you gotta pay.

For those that think the headlight trim can't be removed. We did remove it. It's not easy but we did it. You need 4-5 medium to small flat blade screwdrivers. Once you release all he clips and begin slowly and gingerly prying up you notice a lot of resistance that is the 4 horizontal strips of 3m double sided adhesive. Slow gentle pulling and a long blade screwdriver to help release the tape will work. It's certainly a test in patience but it can be done.
