I have a few question wheres a good place to get a short block?

Also could I get a 6.0 short block and just throw my 862 heads on and just get it tuned but keep the same computer?
I would not recomend throwing the 862 heads on a 6.0 for a few reasons. The first being compression ratio will be high.

Second the intake valves on those head are not as large as the ones that come on the original 6.0 head.

Your Basicaly going to spend more money makeing it work then you really need to.

Just get a long block LQ4 from 2001-up and be done with it.

Thanks 1fastbrick I'll start looking for an LQ4. Will my existing computer work and will I just need a tune?

Does anybody know what the compression ratio be if I run ls9 head gaskets on an LQ4 with the stock heads? I want to run my turbo still...haha

Thanks

Yes, you can re-use your computer but it will need to be re-flashed for the new engine.

Yes the compression ratio is close to 9.5:1 on a stock LQ4.

Not sure how the LS9 gaskets will affect the ratio. Probally minimal at best.

Mobile: Buy Spartan/ATK Engines Spartan Remanufactured Chevy Engine DCTF at Advance Auto Parts

Im thinking about this, I'll just swap everything over from my 5.3.

Can a reflash be down by a tuner or is that something the dealer does?

If anybody can help im not sure how to figure out compression ratio.

I plan on buying this 6.0 and installing Ls9 head gaskets, 862 heads with head studs. What would be my compression ratio be?
I want ti put my turbo on so im wanting to hopefully be around the stock compression of 9.5:1.

Engine Compression Ratio (CR) Calculator

If I calculated right I came up with 10.8747. I hope im wrong thats to high for boost right? Can I do anything to this heads to lower the compression?

Yea I got 10.76:1. Your problem is the heads. The 61cc combustion chamber is tiny. If you went with 317 heads, which are proven to be perfect for boosted applications, you could lower that compression down to 9.55:1.

Yea Im thinking the same thing just got to find a set for cheap. My last question would be can I use my push rods from my 5.3 for the 6.0?

Thanks

The push rods are all the same, so yes. but if you're sticking a cam in it, get some aftermarket ones.
