Blown06-New Build: Cage, 4-Link, Cog Drive, + Too Much More
#1911
Well tomorrow marks the third truck race I'm gonna miss this year. ****** bums me out.
I probably would not have been able to go anyway as we are celebrating my sons first birthday tomorrow. Although, I can say with almost 100% certainty that if the truck was ready to go, we would have scheduled the birthday for last weekend or Sunday. Last time he was at the track he was in momma's belly. lol
This was a pic from about 6 months ago. He's bigger now, but still can't reach the pedals.

Progress is slow over here, but progress none the less.
The new front sub-frame is finished besides adding some brackets off the corners for the ends of the bumper and 2 brake line tabs.
As you can see in the pics I had to triangulate down to the crossmember for some added strength. It was flexing when I stood on it and I stand on my bumper a lot to work on this thing.
Very solid now.

Also, I'm gonna trim the mounting tubes down. Those ******* are ugly.
If you look at the pic head on, the down tubes aren't symetrical (I'm **** like that) because the rack mount bolts are not in the center of the truck. So instead of doing the tubes at the same angle, I decided to pic a spot in the same place on the sub-frame and run each tube out the same distance. Makes for different lengths and angles for each down tube. Best thing I could figure. If I made each down tube at a 45* angle, the one on the right side of the truck (left side in picture) would have been very short, and I thought that would look stupid.
Not even sure anyone will notice once the core support and everything else is in there.

I see what you mean about the racks being different and then similar on our two trucks, I was looking at mine and once I get my suspension at ride height i think my tie rods will be at the correct angles, my rack is a little higher then stock but thinking that may actually help. the lightning I did with a power one of these racks kept the Tie rods straight with the rack and driving truck didnt seem to have any horrible bump steer
also looking at your front tube support gives me ideas but mine wont be as similar as yours as I dont have a heavy bumper to support but mine will support the intercooler up front
but these builds are changing the entire game of our trucks and how others will do them from here on out
yours was one of first with a manual rack and it was a custom made one, Now my rack is a off the shelf mustang part...this is opening up alot of ideas for ppl to try from here on out
