I agree. The converter would be the most beneficial upgrade.

A stall would be great but if I do a stall I might as well do the cam at the same time which means why not pull the motor and re gap the rings for boost etc....lol
Headers are the last thing I can do on my own that won't be to labor intensive

Why regap the rings? Plenty of people have made 800rwhp on a bone stock shortblock. Hell there are atleast a dozen on this site at the 700+ mark with a bone stock shortblock.
Id also do the cam before headers simply because you may break an exhaust manifold bolt off in the head to do the headers.. If youre already pulling them its not that big of a deal and can ez-out them easily at that point. If youre doing headers you might be forced into the cam thing then since youll have to pull the head anyway to fix it.
My opinion on how you should do mods would be different if you never planned on a cam but some people just seem to have bad luck and me personally I always have that black cloud on me. So Id do the things that had least possibility of causing the truck to be down.
I suppose it also depends on what cam specs you intend ot go with and what size converter you plan to do also.
Due to the type of blower you have I think a converter will let you enjoy its powerband much better simply due to getting you there quicker. A cam will make a big difference too but it will basically complement the powerband you already have, not get you into the meat of it quicker. Big heavy 4wd trucks need a converter to get rolling. My old setup with a 4200 could not be beat on teh street through an intersection and it was usually enough to make the other guys give up

just heard that re gapping isn't a bad idea. I agree a converter would really help get the truck up into the power quicker. Would help with the 60' and probably be good for 4-5 tenths in the 1/4.
Part of me just wants to save up and do it all at once and the other part wants me to do one by one as I can afford everything.

Forgot I had this video. Little fun on the way back from the track a couple weeks ago.

Figure I would update this thread some since I know a few people were following it.
So a few weeks back I had an unfortunate event happen. To lazy to go into all the details here but here is a few pics of the results and a link to a thread where everything was explained.

So the block is at the machine shop right now. It's getting honed/bored .05" over to clean up a little damage that happened in the #6 cylinder.
Since the motor is out and torn apart I got to talking with Roger and we both agreed that now is the best time if any to do a lot of the internal upgrades I have been talking about for a while. I would hate to have to pull the motor back out down the road to do something that can be afford now.
So as of today a good portion of my new parts and upgrades have been ordered. Below is a list covering most of the new goodies going back in when we rebuild the motor.
I am sure I missed a couple little random things on the list but that's the major items. Will start posting up some pics when they start getting in.
Should be a whole new truck when all back together
Wish I could spring the money for a set of ARH's and ORY but got other things to pay off and those are something I can snag later on and install at my house.
