2009 Crew Cab - Stage III Build Begins
#101
Hadn't seen this thread in a while. Seems like it's a blast. Very excited to hear that this thing is reliable and you would not hesitate to let you wife drive it. I am building a 370 and putting a 2.3L blower on (cam spec'd by vortec350ss I believe @deadpoolsilverado on IG) and that is exactly what I am going for!

Its a 222/236 on a 117. I have 243 heads that have been milled down 0.030" with 15cc dish diamond pistons. Was shooting for 10:1 ended up at 9.8 or 9.9 I need to verify the chamber size and deck clearance to get the final number.

Any advance on the cam? Sounds like our setups will be pretty similar.

My fuel system is just a factory flex fuel pump with fuel injector clinic 1000s.
My next move on this would be to port the snout and get it machined to accept smaller pulleys (2.5 would be a good size I think). Anyone have a good lead?

I do like that cam spec. It isn't a traditional blower cam and should hold good power out of boost.

I wonder what the flow rating is on a factory flex fuel pump. ill have to do some searching.
you have a 10% OD crank pulley right? What RPM is that blower rated for?

I have heard nothing but good things about his cams. I hope to get it all pit back together and fired up within a month or 2. I also have some other changes I'll be making to the truck since it's in a 95 C1500.

With a 2.45 upper, I expect I would maximize my net engine power at around 730HP@crank and would be at approximately 22.5kRPM. Spinning it any faster on my size engine would probably only hurt crank output.

Just a small update. Conditions weren't as favorable as last time (headwind) and I still picked up time. Short track was worse because I couldn't hook with the new tires as well as the old (I just run a cooper evolution ht) but tune modifications were moving me the right direction.

I've been doing a lot of my own tuning and have been wanting to get shift RPM up, but have been limited by the factory flex fuel pump even with voltage tweaks and large injectors. I can get to about 5k before the pressure falls and about 6200 to 6500 before it gets leaner than I am comfortable. So I took notes on someone else's 450 pump install and tackled the same setup over the past few weeknights. I haven't installed it yet, but hoping this gets me up to a 7 or 7200 rpm shift to further pick up e.t.
