because the truck was an automatic from the start... I don't ever cut holes in things if I can spend a few hours to make something work without cutting or drilling I will I'm kind of a perfectionist like that.... Had it been an 5 speed truck I would have gone 6 speed.

OKay guys finished most of it up... well is anything ever finished???

I ran the new 1/0 battery cable and got the new battery all hooked up. At the same time I replaced the GM fuel level sending unit.

Also bought a new GM roll pan and a coolant resevoir as the old one had changed colors.

I plan one repainting the tailgate and the rollpan as they dont match very well now. Also the rollpan on the truck has a small damaged spot on it that is driving me nuts. I will post pics later today.

Pretty simple just a borgeson steel ujoint 3/4" 30 spline to 3/4" DD and stainless polished 3/4 DD steering shaft.

Links

ujoint
Borgeson Universal 014931 - Borgeson Universal Steering U-Joints - Overview - SummitRacing.com

shaft
Borgeson Universal 429218 - Borgeson Universal Steering Shafts - Overview - SummitRacing.com

I can measure the actual shaft and how much I cut off if you would like, but your measurements and where you need to cut the factory shaft may differ.

I don't use anything from flaming river... I have had too many fitment issues in the past using their products.

so a re-cap

pull the factory shaft and measure the actual depth where the inside shaft sits inside the factory shaft. Then slide on the ujoint to the steering box... then measure from the ujoint (inside where the 3/4DD will sit inset the ujoint) to where it will clear the primary tube. make sure you have some room for it to colapse in case of a wreck. then weld her up and install. Pretty east. I can take more detailed pics also if you need.
