Do you have a pic of where you drilled the hole in the oil pan for the oil return?

I'm getting down to the nitty gritty motor wise.

With 408 ci I would get more turbine flow. Like 96m and a big AR. My 111m 1.25ar will foot brake full boost on a 3000 north Texas converter.

rod bolts are cheap insurance when you take the pistons out. Plus they are about the same price or close to stock bolts when you replace them

his issue could of easily been from the converter or trans and it pushing on the crank into the thrust.....Have saw this countless times with Th400 and 4l80es

Anyone wondering what happened to this project? LOL

Well, it has become a shop ornament, I started my own business, a sign, decal, and design shop. That has taken priority. It is something I have done on the side for years, and it was time to dedicate full time efforts to the business. It has been great! BUT the truck has been collecting dust. The race car has only been out on the street once, and no trips to the race track this year.

However, I have an update for everyone! I am getting pretty close to having everything to put the 408 together! I need main bearings, and cam bearings, and little odds and ends. Today I took the rotating assembly over to get balanced, then it will be time to do a little clearancing on the block and final assembly! It still will take some time to get it all together, and for now I will run it with the turbo I have until the budget allows the proper unit to be slapped on.

I bought a carb intake, and an MSD ignition controller so that I can break it in and run it on motor on our engine dyno, then it will go into the truck and get a tune sorted out!

I have seen this as well. That was not the issue with this deal though, the face of the thrust was mangled and the sides of the thrust were fine.

The rotating assembly is back from balance, with a total bob weight of 1775 grams. No mallory metal was needed for this balance, which I was thankful for, that can drive the balance price up in a hurry!!

Sorry to hear about that brother! I had been wondering what had happened to your truck! Take care of the important priorities, the truck will get together eventually.
