You need to have the tune looked at with the new turbo. Different compressor moves different amount of air at same boost.

Just read through some of your thread, i broke a crank pulley in a similar fashion a couple weeks ago. I heard the later ones are thicker though.

pretty much same thing i went through, finally just over a month after i paid 3 weeks after i was charged it finally showed up to my door step

no emails, no call backs on my VM's. Needless to say ill never buy from them again

Got it Tuesday, 2 days ago. Very nice looking turbo. The compressor cover is huge! I did a test fit yesterday on the trick manifold and it looks like I have some clearance issues because of it. I think I'm going to have to relocate the coolant tank just a little bit and change the line that goes to the radiator. So switching from the PT88 will be more work than I was hoping.

Its actually not huge, the pt88 cover is really just way undersized for that compressor size.

I was thinking I'd probably have to go back into the tune since the spool speed is probably different and will flow differently at different RPMs also.

Yeah, the crank pulley is on the to do list still.

True. It's a lot bigger in comparison. I wonder if anyone else has one on their trick manifold and how the clearance is with everything else.

Here's the new turbo. It's turning into a lot more work to get it installed than I was planning. I was thinking/hoping I would only need to modify the downpipe a little, but I have to relocate the coolant tank, reroute some coolant lines and then do some downpipe work.

Some comparison shots.

How I ended up rotating the tank. I heated and cut some parts off the front mounting leg and made it sit right here on the fender. That upper hose I was able to just rotate and not cut it or anything. The lower hose I moved and have to throw a 90* on it and extend. It's at this weird angle so it can sit in far enough and low enough to clear part of the hood that drops down.

Then just made this little bracket in the rear.

Got it done today! The downpipe actually went a little easier than I was thinking. Only had to cut it twice. My first cut where I removed the old V band flange for the turbo was perfect on the first try. I didn't even measure, just knew I had to get rid of the old flange and that ended up setting my forward/back length perfectly. Then I just had to adjust the height. The BW sits a little bit lower. All I am waiting on now is a 5.5" to 4" reducer elbow for my air filter. Only one I can find is around $70 though. Still the cheapest option though vs getting a new air filter, clamps and elbow.

I took it for a 5 mile test drive tonight and so far it seems to compare almost exactly to the PT88. I'll be able to tell more once I get to start beating onit again and borrow HPtuners from my friend again and check it over. I took it a little easy to give the turbo some break in time. The blowoff valve is finally working perfectly.

Back to the same view I saw a lot of last winter.

The coolant hose used to go up right under the silicone elbow.

1 week later, I finally have an air filter on it again. Only drove it about 200 miles without, shouldn't have been too bad for it.

Also, check out this 7 second video from 50mph and spinning tires. About 15psi right now.

And the best part about having a fast truck is smoking other "fast cars" on the track. The look on this girls face was priceless as we passed this mustang halfway down the straightaway... while riding 3 deep. This was at Powercruise back in July. Driving the road course and roll-racing whoever you're next to.

Thats funny about the mustangs. Nothing better than seeing pure disappointment in someones face when they get passed by a truck. Same thing happened to me the first time I ran at the track. I **** the bed on the launch then when the turbo kicked in, I rolled past this guys pride and joy mustang at about half track. It was the funniest thing.

So what are your plans for the truck now? A newer dyno sheet, track times, or just going to enjoy it for a while?

Haha, and I just noticed that you can see the speedometer pretty good in the youtube video. I passed the Mustang at 90mph+ and still climbing fast. The girl in the passenger seat had her jaw on the ground as she turned her head and followed the truck as I went by. I wish I had that reaction on video.

Yeah, plans for the rest of the year are to just enjoy it. Maybe license my spare pcm and get a 91oct tune set up. I don't plan on driving it in the winter much but I might take it on a trip up north once or twice. E85 doesn't like to sit for a while so I'd like to not store it with that in the system.

I want a different muffler, I need to get a new O2 sensor and do some wiring to feed the signal into both banks on the PCM. I have one in the crossover and downpipe now, but I'm going to switch to only one in the down pipe. Then I can switch back to closed loop and be pretty accurate, they read way off from each other before, possibly because they're both old, original and slow acting. I need to make some adjustments to the fueling due to the lower air temps around here lately.
