Default Retard timing Q

How does one go about retarding the timing for nitrous application? I see timing modules and custom tune can do it. Are these the only two methods?

as far as i know you can have your tuner pull timing or get a progressive timing tuner. i have considered having two pcm's. one for nitrous and one for n/a.
