Default ramzilla build

I am pleased to introduce myself. I am from Texas and a proud owner of a 1997 dodge ram 1500 2wd. Well, not that proud, which is why I joined this site. I Will be converting the 2wd handmedown from my dad into a 4x4 monster. My plans include a D60 front from a 1994 f-350, 12" lift using leaf springs, an NP 231HD I recovered from a junk yard along with a 46re transmission from a 4wd ram. So far this is all I have gathered, I will be needing the help from all the members who are willing to assist and have better knowledge than me in this field. I work in the oilfield and have limited mechanics know how. I read alot of offroad mags and gather most of my knowledge from there. Please feel free to give any input.

Welcome to the site.

I have to say, I like your truck as it is in the pics. Looks good. But I'm curious, maybe a bit ignorant too, why the Ford axle? What all has been done to the truck?

Thanks for the greetings. I am from deep south texas, known to us as The Rio Grande Valley. I am doing ford axles because 1, the front axle is a stout Dana 60, high pinion rev rotation unit. The diff is on the drivers side as apposed to GM. I could have used an axle from a dodge 2500 4x4, but they have the funky vacuum actuated locking hubs...too complicated. I need to keep it simple. So far, the truck has a fabtech 6.5" 2wd lift, 35" mud grapplers on 17" Pro Comp wheels. JBA Headers, dummy catalytic converter,3" magnaflow exhaust, MSD ignition wires, Volant COOL AIR INTAKE, Inside I have a JVC Kamelen reciever, 4 JL Audio 13.5" W7 subs, 4 JL 1000 watt amps, 2 sets of DB Drive components, and a bit more. There is much room for improvement. This project is not a fast one, rather a slow paced, time consuming(and pricy) one.
