Hello. I've been looking for a new home to learn more about upgrading my truck. It's a 2000 suburban LS 4x4 1500. I've had it for a little 2 years and love it. I originally got it because I was tired of car payments and needed somthing that would fit my wife and kids. I have a little over 203,000 miles and I've never had any problems with it. I even used it to tow a 24x8x8 trailer loaded up to 8k lbs across the country with no issues. I currently have only minor bolt ons. Cold air, magnaflow exhaust, bully dog tuner, trans cooler, 22" DF6, nav with back up camera etc. I would like to see how long shell hold up with no issues but I am getting the urge to start pulling her apart. I will be taking my time amassing parts before I actually start any building. I am also currently building a 240sx on the side do I have a few projects. My goal for the burb is to completely redo the interior and update it in the processes. I plan on doing a 383 stroker with heads forged internals and a mild turbo. I do most work myself and enjoy doing it. This will be my first truck build although I did swap in a 454 in my 78 burb and I did a 350 swap in an 89 firebird. I look forward to meeting new people and learning all I can.

Welcome! What is the 383 kit you're looking at? Do some reading up here and you may find an LQ4 with a mild turbo may get you what you're looking for...

I am planning on just piecing a stroker kit together myself. I haven't started sourcing parts as of yet. I want to refresh my suspension and drivetrain before I tear into the motor. The suspension i have new shocks but I want it to handle better as well. And the truck is way harder to find parts and tricks to keep it about stock heighth but handle better. I looked into an LQ4 but I would still want to tear into and rebuild it before boost any way and as its a family truck the stroked 5.3 should give me plenty of usable power with a nice mid to uper range turbo. I'm hoping to head to Afghanistan in a couple months do I'll use the deployment money to start getting parts. We're you stationed at camp Allen with MARFORCOM as well?
