As far as the trans goes I think it would work for a while, but I don't think it would handle the power very long so the best bet would be to upgrade to a T-56.

Info here.

Agreed on all counts. Enjoy the site.
Go for the 5- 6spd conversion. Whether doin an engine swap or tranny swap, whatever u think it'll cost & however long u think it'll take, at least multiple by 2. I mean for both time and $ to do.

More info. There are some good threads on the t-56 swap in here somewhere, but I can't seem to find the one I'm looking for right now.

Don't let the time part scare u; mainly since it sounds as if u have time to work out a plan. I just want u to be aware to realistically set goals w/ respect to time. Things will & do come up. You might need a part after parts store closes for the weekend or u have to order parts. These issues become particularly important if u use someone's garage. Ask me how I know?

Buying a part u forgot about adds to the cost. Little things add up. Nickel & dime stuff. Fuel upgrades. Wiring harness rework, tranny/ clutch upgrade(s). Bla bla. While perhaps I overestimated the muliplier, devise a plan & a budget, & go from there. Some depends on how much work u do yourself. And so on. There's a great deal of knowledge on this site. Learn & research.

thanks guys and I have had the truck since it was new and little by little its looking good time doesn't really concern me just quality to price ratio so keep the advice coming. What I am getting is that the tranny goes hand and hand with the engine swap. Any advice on the wiring harness. I found that I need the harness out of a factory truck with the v8 of choice. Thanks for all the help.
