Welcome to the site, what engine you gots and how much money are you plan on spending. I spent less than a 1000.00 for cold air intake, tuner and nitrous kit which is a good fast start. This really is an open question, its all about how far your willing to take it. I plan on doing a 6.0 swap, which is a direct swap and throwing some ls6 heads on there for some good NA power. Either way, if you plan on upping your power by more than 150 hp, plan on replacing the tranny for a built one.

skip the power programmer and get a tuner to do your tuning especially if you have as little computer skills as me. You need to look into Nelson tuning. Allen Nelson is one of the best there is as far as computer calibration. as far as servos, either a vette servo or a billet servo should be fine. Whenn my tranny blows, im goin with a billet servo. Here is a link to Nelsons website http://www.nelsonperformance.com/ Have fun and good luck with the truck.
