Default 4/6 Drop opinions

Hey first post here, I just installed a 4/6 drop that consist of a flip kit and lower control arms. Factory Chevy wheels with 275/55-20 tires. Trucks a 01 with a 4.8, my reason for posting is that I’m disappointed in the drop compared to others I’ve seen. Mine just does not look as low as others, other people say this tire size will rub like crazy and mine don’t. The tires are worn out and I had planed on getting 275/45-20 just from what everyone seems to be using . My question is does this look like a 4/6 drop to the guys that have done them before, this is my first I have done. Thanks for any input and opinions.

It looks right.

You’re on 20s with a thick sidewall tire so it’s not going to look as low as someone with 18s and a 29in tire.

Measure from the center of the wheel to the bottom of the fender lip. That will tell you how much you went down.

It'll also settle down a little more over time.

It looks like a 4/6 with tall tires.

maybe it didnt fully settle, have you driven it any since you did the install? usually every time i lowered a truck it took 50 to 100 miles before it was settles

the front for a 4" drop to me does look a touch high still (if it has settled) right now in those pics looks like a 3" drop, swapping to a shorter tire is going to lower the trucks height also

out of all the trucks i lower i was never happy with them and always said i should of gone lower so my last 04 i played with the drop 3 times finally got it down to what worked out to be around 6/8ish drop love the look but it had some things i didnt like had to hack the front fenders and roll the back lips for clearance, turning in someplace with a curb needed some skill and practice not to hit the fenders, speed bumps was a job to go over and when in the eway a good dip in the road frame would scrap

so even though i loved the look of being that low i wont do it again, my current truck is getting a 4/6

this is the truck i was talking about it was on 255/50/20's iirc

That’s a nice looking truck you have there, I have only drove the truck down the road a mile or so. Since I lowered the front using Lower control arms only is there any thing else I could change to get another inch lower in the front ?

thanks! that truck is long gone but it was sweet 6.0/4l80e swpped it was a blast!

you have some options, id wait till you drive it some and swap tires and see what it looks like if your still not happy then bring it down some

you can either cut the front coils for a 1" drop or put a 1" lowering coil springs in the front

a lot of guys say cutting the front coil changes the ride and its not the proper way to do things but i did it, from the start it was just to see if i wanted 1" or 2" springs before i ordered some but really didnt change my ride so i left them in the truck (cut for a 1" drop)

i really dont remember i think it was 1/2 a coil not 100% sure though maybe someone will chime in on this

does you truck have the famous chevy lean? passenger side sits higher then drivers side? if it does you can correct it by cutting a little more off the passenger side spring i did this to my truck and was able to get the truck almost level 1/8" from perfect
