Default Hurt motor, time for LSx swap.

Long story short, I've got a rod that started knocking in my racetruck over the weekend. It's an 86 S-10 RCSB, carbed sbc/th350, with a fuel cell. Instead of spendng money on machine work on the old conventional SBC, I think I'd rather to an LS swap. I built the truck, (purpose built) it as a race truck. Nothing included other than what's needed to run, start, drive, stop. There is no interior, a/c, or electical in the truck other than required to drive, not even a radio. It's just a race only truck. I would rather not step down in cubic inches to a 5.3 but it may be the quickest way, plus they are stout runners too. I don't want ot go Forced Induction with it any time soon either. I'd prefer just a regular truck LS motor with either stock intake or maybe a carbed intake, not sure.

-I'm unsure about what to try and get, a complete motor, with everything?
-What do I need to get/do for fuel system?
-What if any harness mods will need to be done?
-Oil pan, motor mounts?

So, I need to get a motor, stuff for fuel system since this motor was carbed. What do I need to look for in regards to harness? This will be my first LS swap. I had to do a lot of modifications for the SBC swap and expect now there will be more. If I kept it carbed would I still need to run a fuel return line to the cell? Any help would be greatly appreciated, ask away. Thanks for reading, I look forward to feedback and comments...

Found 2 LY6's, going to try and grab one of them in the next week or so! After paying out for the motor I still have to spend 1k+ on stuff to drop it in. BRP install mounts, headers, oilpan, oil-pickup, and then the carbed intake (360.00+), and the MSD or Edelbrock ignition control (400.00 +). I'm still excited though, this truck needs to be raced....soon!

No harness needed, no return line either. MSD controls the ignition. Jegs for the full length headers. (best price out there). If you're racing it, spend the money for rod bolt replacement. The stockers can't take 6,500+ for any period of time. A cam will really wake up the motor. Think 50 - 90 horsepower depending on what you start with. Don't play with over a hundred shot of nitrous. The pistons won't like it. If you start with a 5.3, when you rebuild it, bore it out to the lt1 bore (35o cubic inch) Sleeves are plenty thick enough to do it. Cam swap requires good (dual) springs and new pushrods. Stockers won't like the spring pressure. That should get you started.

I'm gonna use the BRP's 1 7/8" as well as the rest of their kit. I was more concerned with the wiring part of the house. It WILL be a 6.0L to begin with, I'm trying to get an LY6 I've found(l92 heads). It just sucks that I'll have to drive a good distance to get it. Thanks for the info on the MSD too. I'll have to do some serious debating on rod bolt replacement as I hear they don't like higher rev's. It will ONLY be raced, not dailyed, or cruzed.

Thanks. Yea, I'd planned on grabbing everything ands the PCM, even though I'm going the carbed route.
