Default 99-07 4wd Front Coilover Conversion Brackets

Click here for the full discussion on the conversion: https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...ersion-518118/

I want to be clear, modifying your vehicles suspension is a serious modification. If you do not feel comfortable doing this swap, or using my parts, by all means, do not buy them. I take no responsibility for any damage or injury that may come due to you modifying your suspension. With that said, I will run these on my truck without a doubt to the reliability.

All pricing on my website: www.atomicfp.com

I have test driven these for over 2000 miles and they work great!

Other things you will need for this conversion that I do not sell. See the above thread for more details:

- (2) coilover shocks
- (2) 2.5" coilover springs
- 3/8" spacers for the lower mount
- 1/2" spacers for the upper mount if you use the procomp bracket
- pair of aftermarket bumpstops if your truck is lowered than stock height
- upgraded bearings for the lower mount (see referenced thread)

From now until December 31 I am doing a Holiday Discount of $30 off a complete set, and $25 off a set of just uppers or a set of just lowers. New totals would be $330 for a full set, $170 for a set of uppers, or $170 for a set of lowers. This of course includes shipping, powdercoating, and hardware. I current have 9 sets all finished and ready to go!

First post on performance trucks... jumping over here from the avalanche forum. Very interested in getting a set of these. Need a little bit of input on what shocks and springs to go with.

I put a 2" leveling kit on my 2004 Avalanche 4x4.... looking to ditch the torsion bars and convert to your coilover setup.

So the dims i have taken so far is 16 1/2" from the bottom bolt hole to the top of the shock tower. This is with the truck sitting flat. I have yet to cycle the suspension all the way up and down to find the total suspension travel but am using current shocks.

From the previous thread this would look like this

16.5"-1.5"(Pro Comp Shock Mount)-3.75"(lower bracket height)-3/8"(thickness of metal)=11.125"

Not sure which shocks i should be running
DS701(Extended 19.5" Collapsed 13" = 6.5" travel) vs DS501(Ext 17" collap. 11.625" = 5.375" travel)

I need to cycle the suspension to figure out the current travel but feel the stock shocks are limiting down travel. I can shoot some pics tomorrow and get some more dims for up/down travel and current ride height.

My current build:

Welcome to PT!

Your measurement is close, except the lower bracket is actually 1.75, not 3.75. So if you measured 16.5 from the bottom hole to the top it would be 16.5-1.5-1.75-.375=12.875. This is your ride height, or the length half way between extended and collapsed.

The DS403 has a ride height of 12.5-13.25". IFS fronts dont have a ton of travel just by their nature, so dont worry so much about that aspect. I believe stock shocks have 4.5" of travel.

If you go with the 403s (ext=15", col=11.125"), they have 15-11.125=3.875" of travel, half way would be 3.875/2=1.9375". Your front end will have roughly 1500lbs over the front wheels, so 1500/1.9375=774lb/in for the truck to sit in the middle. However, I like to have a slightly stiffer spring than this would say, so I would try 850lb spring, hyperco number 10B0850.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Found a link for the part number.

Yep that looks like them.

Hyperco's number system is the first 2 numbers are the length, the next letter corresponds to the inner diameter, and the next 4 numbers are the spring stiffness. So 10B0850 is a 10" long spring with a ID of B=2.5" and stiffness of 0850lb/in.

You could always buy the brackets while they are on sale and pick up the other stuff later

If i chose not to go with the Pro Comp bracket i could increase travel by 1.5". Are there different QA1 shocks that will work?

If you use the stud top total length is increased 1.5" and ride height would be around 14.375". The DS501 would be a good choice, and has a travel of 17-11.625=5.375".

However, travel distance isnt really the problem with torsion bars, its the way the spring rate changes as the bar rotates that make it ride so harshly. For those shocks you will want a spring rate of 600-650lb/in (weight divided by half of travel is 558lb/in) and qa1 recommends a 12" length.

Here are all the single adjustable qa1 shocks, http://www.qa1.net/qa1_motorsports/d...djustable.html

They also make double adjustables that will work.
