Default yella terra rockers hitting valve covers?

long story short, my neighbor had some buddies over that are car guys. they wanted to hear my truck start, so i hooked up a battery and poured a lil gas down the carb. they tell me that my passenger valve cover is loose. i thougt

one of them hopped in the truck and hit the key and the rockers were hitting so hard it was picking up the valve cover off of the head. is this normal? did I miss the memo about having to mod the OEM valve covers with terra rockers?

oh well. now i have an excuse to buy those sexy SDPC valve covers that they had at the SAR shootout.

They're hitting the tin baffles or whatever inside. If you'd pay closer attention, you'd know I had this same problem about 4 years ago lol

lol, i try to read every single post here but it's tough sometime. yella terra advertises these things to work perfectly fine with OEM covers. then i read about them breaking on LS1 tech. i almost want to just pull them and throw OEM rockers back in there and sell the yella terras for more mod money.

the aluminum nobbin is exactly what it's hitting. if it was just hititing the aluminum baffle id let it ride and they could make their own clearance

i'm just glad ii caught it before letting it run for a long period of time. there was already some aluminub sludge on top of the rockers and in the valve cover.

i have the 1.8 ultralites on my 2012 5.3 and no problems. the adjustable ones need valve cover clearance mods.

The Yt's come with extra thick valve cover gaskets, and spacer nuts for the bolts, to give the extra clearance needed. What gaskets were you using?

What part number rockers do you have? Just curious. Have not heard about this happening too often with the Yella Terra rockers.

The breakage you are talking about is from a run of rockers that were built in 2008 and sold in 09. Yella Terra also has more than one model of rockers for different spring pressures and super aggressive cam profiles. I have used Yella Terra rocker arms for years and have never had any issues. I always pick the right rocker arm for the combination I am using. Unfortunately, this is not always the case for people putting combinations together and then the rocker arms (not just Yella Terra) take a bashing on the forums when all that needed to be done in the first place is ask the manufacturer what rocker to use for your combination. Most people don't even know that any other rockers other than the Ultralites exist. How many people even know that Yella Terra produces rocker arms for LS solid roller camshafts that will handle up to 1000lbs of spring pressure? They have a variety of rocker arm packages and build the Platinum series wide body rocker arms for severe duty applications.

i got these 2nd hand with the trick flow heads and did not valve cover gaskets with them. it would have to be some thick *** gaskets though...when it's running it is actually kiocking the valve cover up off of the head. i dont mind removing the baffles but dont want to run into an oil soaked filter on my passenter valve cover.
