Default WOW!!!!!! Crazy....

these are some of the craziest chevy engines. i have ever seen like this 3.5l 560 hp motor

Or this v12 720 horsepower

i bet that 3.5l v8 sounds narly.. it only has a 2.5 inch stroke!!! i wounder how many rpms it revs to?? dont normal indycars rev to like 40,000rpms??

Don't think 40,000 rpm is doable in any type of 4 cycle internal combution engine. I've heard of two cycle engines doing half of that for short periods of time. Too many parts have to change directions too fast. Laws of motion won't allow it.

IC engines have and will turn that fast!!! You just can't use conventional tappet valvetrain/cam driven setup. When revolving/rotating valves are used things get real interesting.

I don't think it revs to 40k when the hp peak is at 8k. But still a crazy engine. I just wish it had a little longer stroke for some more torque. From the pictures isn't the supercharger mounted upside down? because the intake tubes come off the top and then go into the cylinder heads. Probably so they could run it through the intercooler. Very cool engine, excellent find.

I think you see the indy cars on TV shifting at 19,000. I'm also pretty sure that they are starting to use the cam to directly open the valves.

No, they are 3.0L NA fuel injected V-8's and are limited to 10,300 rpm by the IRL. They run on 100% ethanol and make aprx 670 hp.
