NO, two completely different classes of racecars. To give you an idea, most indy teams, have budgets of 2-3 mil a year where F-1 cars are 10-20 mil a year depending on the team.

F1 cars have some different rules for different cars, but most of the run about a 3L V-10, NA motor that spins upwards of 18,000 RPM.

Edit:F1 no longer use turbos either.

i bet that 3.5l v8 sounds narly.. it only has a 2.5 inch stroke!!! i wounder how many rpms it revs to?? dont normal indycars rev to like 40,000rpms??
They are only a couple hour from my House, Never been there but might have to check them out one of these days.

Indy Car motors rev to at most 24K, that is just recently for a while their limit was ~20K.

Comparing Indy cars to F1 car is like comparing a base model Camaro to a fully loaded Corette, while they look similar, they are nothing alike.

After doing a little more research (cuz it sparked my interest ), as of the 06 season the F1 car engine was down sized from the 3L NA V-10 to a 2.4L NA V-8 and have a mandated 19,000 rpm limit. Just a little FYI
