105 originally in my 03. Bought the bigger one. The amperage was stamped or marked on it somewhere.

I can't find it! So here's a question: If u underdrive the crank, then cudn't u overdrive the alt to bring it back to stock ratio? I'm gonna do the Big 3 wire mod and going to 8 rib pulley's too, but the alt pulley is bigger than the OEM.

I believe the Z51 models have the 145 amp alternator and that is part of the option pkg..

my 07 listed 2 different models, with 2 different pulley sizes. i found that out once when i bought a new serpentine, and again when my alternator started squeling and i repleced it. mine is a WT model though.. i cant remember the Amperage it was advertised.

i guess the pimper model trucks had a bigger/better alternator.

K68 - 105A
KG8 - 130A
8X5 - Dual 105A

105A is standard. 130A is common on snow prep packages, HD packages and SUV's or Trucks with many factory electronics and A/C comforts (Dual climate zone Suburban's, Denali's, ect. )

The 130A is not worth upgrading to in my opinion. You're going to spend $180+ on a remanufactured unit where most alternator specific Ma and Pa shops will charge $1/amp to build you a custom unit with a MUCH stronger casing. Call up an alternator shop. I don't have a single Gen III engine with less than 210A in my family, most are 280-300A.

Great info...wasn't planning on upgrading, as the only extra I've done is the e-fan - but - I do have a fluctuation in my charge when the AC fans come on now. I was just gonna do the Big 3 wire mod and assumed that wud take care of it...U think I shud do the upgrade? R/

There's also a 145amp alternator available, that's what I have, bought it from a G&R Auto Parts ebay auction, it was only $100 shipped at the time. I don't have the big three, but my voltmeter still dips when the efans come on high, although I believe there is another issue with the idle settings that may be causing that. I did upgrade my B+ wire/fusible link to a double fusible link and the voltage dip got a little better.
