Default took off head got pics.

well, i finally got around to taking the head off to get to the lifters i thought were bad. how do you know if they are bad or not? the only thing i could tell is that when i took them apart, the one i thought was bad had half or less the amount of oil as one i'm pretty sure was good.

i took pics of the pistons as best i could. i didn't get them all whipped down dry so some are wet one is dry.

i also took pics of the head gasket and head to see if anyone can tell if it pushed water.

What engine is that 4.8? Dont recall seeing that cross that shows on the pistons. Love the "NUT ROASTER" box in the background.

I want to be the first to comment on the nut roaster. Only 10 minutes for glazed nuts.

Can't see really good but it doesn't look like its pushing water badly if any, but #7 looks suspect to me.... Not cooked, but not real healthy either....

How many miles? I guess depending on mileage and being suspect to having a bad one I would replace them while the heads are off with ls7 lifters. Thunder racing has them for $140 set of 16. Thats me Id hate to get back in there after all that work.

silver-mod-o that is the even bank. so are you talking number 2? i think it just had oil and water spill on it. i will look at it better in the morning.

phasemaster1 i took this thing apart to replace lifters. 140 is high for the ls7 lifters. they sell for $119 from patriot or sdpc. its got 80,000 or somiles btw.

so does anybody know how to check and see if a lifter is bad if they all look good?

Sorry 4.8T I thought you might be doing head swap for some reason. No idea how to check them.
