I was running Rotella T6 synthetic which is I think 5w-40

running comp short travels with link bar

Truck is at the house, going camping this weekend...I may pull the valve cover tonight if I get antsy

Thanks for the ideas guys - I'll keep you posted but I was thinking the other day, if I crapped a lifter or broke a rocker, wouldn't the fuel pool up and cause other problems like hydrolock or something similar? I wonder if it's electrical??

Oh, and Firewipes are an on Scene decon wipe for firefighters to remove soot, smoke, and particulate from the skin. Cancer is an epidemic right now for them and removing that stuff from the skin as soon as possible is one step in the process to reduce the exposure to those harmful chemicals. I'd post up our website but I don't want to tick off any admins and we are easily googled if you want to check us out.

You can post links to that. That's not truck related. Post away

Preliminary steps taken - pulled valve cover and visual checks OK!

Nothing broken or hanging up

Rotating engine and I observe normal valve actuation.

Cylinder leak down test at TDC for #5 cylinder = less than 2%

Racking my brain now since it sounds electrical. Coil wire, coil, or injector?

I ohm'd out the wire and it's in spec and not dodgy.

Gonna perform a compression check just to be sure on the mechanical then test the coil and injector somehow

Applied 12v to the injector and it fired off so now I'm guessing coil?

What the crap - good thing I have 8 spares laying around haha

Replaced the coil and swapped wires and the problem is still there - I'm thinking that I wiped the cam lobe out maybe.

I couldn't get a good compression reading because my gauge was acting weird and wouldn't hold the reading but based on the fact that my leakdown was less than 2% then mechanically I'm sound.

With the injector completely unplugged there is a definite difference in the missfire and the wideband was way lean.

Next step is to pull the cam I guess - goo thing I got the 2 piece timing cover last time around.

Hey bud, hope you get it figured out. Remind me again, what is the bore/stroke combination on this engine? Also, what is the rod length?
