well litreddevil installed my cam for me among other things and now it's time to write a review.

first of all, i know this cam is more for up top than down low. if you don't have a stall, tuning, springs and some gearing you can forget about making this as your cam choice.

off idle power is absolutly perfect but keep in mind i am running a loose fuddle 3200 stall with 4.10 gears. i still think it pulls harder down low than the 00 vette cam i had with the same stall and gear.

mid to upper rpms just zing. i can not compare it to a bunch of other cams since i have only had the stock cam and vette cam in my truck. but it pulls all the way to my shift point at 6300rpms.

20mph roll with a punch the truck sinks down and kicks to one side then before you know it your doing 80

i can punch it at 70 and it still pulls hard. not like the stock or vette cam. they would just lug along.

idle is going to be a major issue. this could be just my truck though. i am running with the iac sensor unplugged to keep it idled up. bigkid does the tuning and he has the tuning dialed in for this cam. i am sure it won't be long and he'll find some trade secrets to fix the idle through tuning.

i would not suggest a mail order tune for this cam in a 5.3L.

it has the nice lope at idle and while riding you can tell something is different about the truck, exhaust is louder and has a distinct note to it.

i am going to get some exhaust vids open and closed so you can hear what it sounds like.

yea, i just installed that some cam in my truck. i love the way it pulls up top. i didnt loose any bottom end, i still got the same 60 foot as i did with my 4.8. i also like the choppy idle. all and all... i would recommend this cam to anybody looking for good top end power

Goshawk, glad you like it. I had a little smaller cam in my 5.3, but it was close. Thats pretty much what I have in th 6l. As far as the idle, it just takes time to get the tune right. Do you have HPt? Or any way to open a HPT file? If so I can send you a copy of the tune im running in my truck. It idles great except first thing in the morning, and that was when it was still cool. I know its a 6l, but may be a starting point. If you cant open HPT files, pm me, I might be able to help you with that.

yea send me that file. i'll get up with kenny and send it to him or you can send it to him as well. he is moving and probably won't have a whole lot of time to play with anything for a few weeks. i won't get a chance to see him again for a while unless he comes over on the 4th or 5th of may. which ever is a sunday. we are heading to the track. so bring it on over to hattiesburg.

dyno numbers are on hold for a little while. that was in the works but bigkid which is a member on here is moving. he has the contact number for a dyno. so when he comes back to town i am going to try and hook up with him to see if we can strap it to the rollers. i'd like to do it before the heads go on.
