That is the shop that built the trans and convertor for my Mustang years ago, I never ever had one problem with either of them, and that trans was in my Mustang for like 8 years, however I did go threw 3-4 motors but the trans was solid!!! That shop is only like 30min from my house.

FWIW, I had my TR220 in my truck for about 10K miles before I put in my convertor. It was untuned and ran fine. It was a definite improvement over the stock cam but its true potential was unleashed with the stall and tune. Everyone seems to dog the TCI's but I've had no problems so far and have about 5K miles with my current sig. I don't treat it gently either!

Hmm... wonder how a tr220 would work in a 4.8 with a tune and 3k stall until I can get a 6L in it?

that's pretty stinkin sweet. I really like the way it looks. Just like the older 90's models that were the 2dr sport.

yeah I don't mind the gas mileage, but towing was the concern. Sounds like I'll be fine with the trq converter I'm going to buy. The boat I'm going to haul is a heavy mothertrucker. 22' pontoon boats are heavier than you think lol. I know it's no massive load, but it's so damn top heavy. I'm probably going to get some 4.10's soon too.

thanks for the info.

the toons are like big wind-brakes back there too, sucks ***** towing them on the highway.

as cheap as some of this used stuff is, I doubt I'll even waste the time putting the 4.8 in the truck. I will probably find an ls1 crank, pistons, rods, heads, and make an iron ls1. that will give me the opportunity to make the block perfect too.
