Tapping after cam and spring install
#1
Once I had everything installed, there was a similar nose to that of the dreaded piston slap.. my mechanic told me it was the pushrods maybe being a little bit less in length then what they should be and it would be best to install some longer ones...
what y'all think?

its similar to that.. imagine piston slap on all the cylinders constant, but about 50% quiter.. thats what I'm experiencing.. he also said its not a problem and its better coz it doesn't put too much stress on the valvetrain?

Your mechanic sounds like a doof. You need a $20 pushrod checker from summit racing and need to check your lifter preload. You should have around .080" lifter preload. Do you need this explained to you on how to check this? I'd be willing to elaborate if it'll help you.
